It’s great to travel, to get to know new cultures and to learn new traditions, but often there is a serious limit in front of us, that of the lack of knowledge of the foreign language.
There are many translation platforms used every day, most of the time impractical and not very intuitive, which make it difficult to have a fluid conversation with a person who does not speak the same language as us.
The Shenzen-based TimeKettle start up already introduced the Wt2 to the market of near-real-time translating earphones, which were well received on Kickstarter. The product, now updated and made more performing, is called WT2 Plus. These Bluetooth headsets can translate up to 36 different languages, have an innovative design, are water resistant and have an autonomy of 8 hours.
The objective that led the company to create these earphones is to motivate people from different cultures and geographical backgrounds to share and connect with each other.
Earphones can listen to and translate single words or long and complex sentences. The interlocutor must choose the language to use, from his smartphone through a special app, available for both IOS and Android systems.
To function properly, the device must be worn by both parties, the synchronization is immediate and automatic.
Contained in a case with magnetic closure, the earphones fit comfortably to the ears, in fact, inside the package there are six other types of foam rubber that make precisely the apparatus easily adaptable to various forms of ears. It also practices charging, via USB cable in just about 30 minutes.
The software is quite intelligent and avoids interference with other languages. If, for example, two people are talking in English and a third person is approaching in French, the earphones can ignore it.
Perhaps the translation will take about 10-15 seconds to process, depending on the length and complexity of the sentence to be translated.
There are three options for use: Automatic mode without touching the headphones and used in quiet environments, Touch mode where you touch the headset for the duration of the sentence being translated and Speaker mode which uses the speaker of the phone to translate. In the latter the translated language will be read by the device so that more than one person will be able to understand what has been said. This is very useful if there is a group of people who need to listen to the translation.
