Born in Denmark, with the aim of eliminating, or at least limiting the daily waste of food. The creative startup, founded in 2015, is currently present in 9 other European markets.
The system is very simple: rather than throwing food, the shopkeeper will have a “Magic box” or a selection of fresh food and dishes to offer to their customers: the surplus food will not be thrown away by shops and Restaurants at the end of the day!
We consider, for example, the bakeries that bake fresh bread every day, or the restaurants that have provided more customers, at the end of the day that food is destined to be thrown if it remains unsold.
You’ll never know exactly what you get in your Magic Box until you collect it. What you know for sure is that it’s a good deal and you get some good food!
Food waste has repercussions in the social, and also from the economic and environmental point of view.
“The app offers each of us the opportunity to engage in the fight against waste, allowing Restaurators to win new customers and consumers to try new products at minim i prices.” Mette Lykke, CEO of Too Good to Go
This system allows restaurators and traders in the food sector to recover still good but unsold food and sell them online (at low prices).
In Italy:
“Our goal is to create the largest anti-waste network in Italy : To date, there have been over 11 million Magic boxes purchased in Europe, which has allowed the environmental level to avoid the emission of more than nearly 23 million tonnes of CO2. Point of departure is Milan, where they have already joined many restaurators, bars and confectioneries“. Eugenio Sapora, Country Manager for Italy

- The Venetian Tramezzini Sandwiches
- Handmade microbakery The powders.
A virtuous system that would involve the whole food chain to counter the waste: from production, moving on to distribution, to reach the final consumer.
Every year about 1.3 billion tons of food are thrown into the trash: and this trend involves substantial economic losses (about 15 million a year, only in Italy) and greenhouse Gas emissions.
To restrict the use of packaging andpackaging, the adherent stores encourage customers to carry reusable containers and bags. You can buy on the App the meals at prices that fluctuate between 2 and 6 euros. Not only the wallet, even the environment earns us: each Magic Box avoids the emission of 2 kg of Co2.
