An English designer designed an “uncomfortable” toilet with an inclination of 13 degrees to reduce the amount of time people spend on the toilet, especially in offices or public bathrooms.
But what are you doing in the bathroom all this time? That’s the question that many of us have heard many of us repeat from parents, colleagues or friends locked out of the toilet and eager to get in. And this is the question that stimulated the ingenuity (or naughtiness) of Mahabir Gill, the English designer who created Standard Toilet, a toilet capable of drastically reducing the time spent in the bathroom. In what way? Thanks to uncomfortableness.

Too much time in the bathroom? Here comes the uncomfortable toilet!
“The current toilet seats offer a horizontal seating surface,” says the website dedicated to the Standard Toilet project. “This allows the user to sit relatively comfortably on the toilet. As a result, a user can spend more time than necessary sitting on the toilet without any short-term discomfort. Sitting on the toilet longer than necessary is generally unhealthy” and in the long run may cause unpleasant consequences such as hemorrhoids and weakening of the pelvic muscles.
