Tap Strap 2, an all-in-one keyboard mouse and air controller for your hand

With a band to wear between your five fingers, Tap Strap provides a convenient and innovative alternative to the keyboard and mouse for PCs and smart TVs.

Do you remember the scenes from the movie “Minority Report“? John Anderton, played by Tom Cruise, in front of a screen that controlled the windows and files thanks to the movement of his hands? The film released in 2002 was full of hints of future technologies at the time only imaginable. Tap Strap 2 makes one of those visions a reality.

How it works

Tap Strap 2 consists of a series of connected sensors that are worn at the base of the fingers. The device interprets the movements of the hand and translates them into commands for a laptop or a smart TV. First of all, you wear the device like a glove. When your hand is horizontal, the glove acts like a keyboard allowing you to write a text. Words are not obtained by writing on a virtual QWERTY keyboard but are generated using finger combinations. The company estimates in two hours the time to learn how to use this particular way of writing.

By placing a thumb on the surface, Tap Strap 2 automatically becomes a high-sensitivity optical mouse. If your hand is rotated vertically, the device switches to AirMouse mode, allowing you to control smartphones, tablets, laptops, Smart TVs and the like. Tap Strap 2 is compatible with various operating systems, such as iOS, Android, OS X, Windows and Linux, and connects to them via Bluetooth. The manufacturer promises up to 10 hours of continuous use per charge, or seven days on standby.

Tap Strap 2 allows you to have much more convenient remote control on many electronic devices now in daily use. The first version of the glove dates back to 2016, the second was designed primarily to optimize the use of iPads. But that doesn’t mean you can take a leap into the future for everyone and feel a bit like Tom Cruise from the comfort of your own sofa.
