The company explained in detail the hardware and software details of what should be the most powerful console in the world
There are three main features: power, speed and compatibility. Xbox X Series should excel in all three entries on competing game consoles, achieving unprecedented performance. Let’s see in detail how.
Power
The concept of power has been rewrite compared to the past. Previous generations of consoles developed the power to improve graphics performance. Starting with 8 and 16 bits, they moved on to two dimensions, then 3D, from SD to HD to 4K. Today, however, power increase is linked to the amount of frames per second (fps) that provide greater visual accuracy and immediacy of commands. The Xbox X Series will improve the gaming experience by ensuring a high number of fps without sacrificing image quality for better playability.
The development of the physical components will ensure an unprecedented gaming experience, ensuring the performance during the game play in 4K with fps ranging from 60 to 120. Xbox X Series will be equipped with a 3.8 Ghz octa core processor, a 12 TFLOP GPU (twice the power of the Xbox S), 16 Gb of GDDR6 RAM and 1 TB of SSD hard drives.
Speed
The speed for the user means being able to jump instantly from one gaming experience to another. The waiting time between one operation and the next defines the quality of the console experience. The developers have optimized the waiting time by minimizing it through the use of solid state storage disks (SSDs). The concept of speed has also been extended to online gaming, a predominant component of the gaming market. The architecture of the Xbox X-Series allows you to enjoy online content almost immediately, giving you instant access to 100Gb of content.
The developers believe that this step forward can open up a new scenario for the creation of open world games, where the player is free to explore huge maps. Titles like Final Fantasy XV, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Red Dead Redemption 2 could make the most of the evolution of the architecture. Speed is also linked to latency. Noticing the improvement in latency in individual aspects is difficult, but when added together, you get a deeply more responsive gaming experience.
Compatibility
The third pillar is compatibility. The developers have put the player and his favorite games at the center of everything, imagining the desire to continue playing a title you are fond of. The Xbox X Series will have backwards compatibility with all games in the Xbox series including the Xbox 360 and the original Xbox. In fact, they ensure that the old games will be even better when played on the Xbox X Series, thanks to the software architecture developed. Older games will have a shorter loading time, more stable fps, higher resolution and improved image quality.
