The Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) is gearing up to host the Sustainable Energy and Green Technology International Innovation Awards (SEGT IIA), a highly anticipated virtual event scheduled to take place from 18 to 20 December 2024. This annual event will bring together innovators, researchers, and industry leaders from around the world to spotlight groundbreaking advancements in sustainable energy and green technology.
The three-day programme is designed to provide an engaging platform for knowledge-sharing and collaboration, featuring a series of expert-led sessions and discussions. Among the highlights are presentations such as “Sustainable Growth in Green Energy” by YBrs. Ts. Gs. Ir. Br. Dr. Ting Sie Chun, President of the Malaysia Sustainable Green Energy Association (MSGEA), and “Decarbonization Through Green Energy Technologies” by Prof. Dr. Jagadesh Pasupuleti, Head of Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN). Other notable sessions include
“Repurposing Plastic Bags: Preserving a Greener Future” by YBrs. Ts. Dr. Nabihah Abdullah from TATI Universiti College, and “Inisiatif CETREE: Kenali Teknologi Hijau” by Dr. Mohd Sukri Bin Shafie of Universiti Sains Malaysia.
Outstanding innovations will be selected by the independent awards jurors to receive Special Awards conferred by renowned international inventors’ associations and organizations. These include Centre For Education & Training in Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency & Green Technology (CETREE), Universiti Sains Malaysia; Eurobusiness-Haller; the Indonesian Invention and Innovation Promotion Association (INNOPA); the Malaysian Association of Creativity & Innovation (MACRI); the Malaysia Sustainable Green Energy Association (MSGEA); the National STEM Association (NSA),
and the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT). These recognitions underscore the global significance and credibility of the awards while celebrating excellence in innovation.
The event will culminate on 20 December with the SEGT IIA 2024 Results Announcement, celebrating innovative projects that align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Winners will be recognized for their contributions in addressing critical environmental challenges and advancing green technology.
Driving the awards process is a distinguished committee led by Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Mohd Zamri Bin Yusoff, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation) at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), who serves as the Awards Chair. Supporting him are Kamarulzaman Kamaruddin, Senior Consultant at SIRIM Tech Venture Sdn. Bhd., as the Awards Deputy Chair (Industry), and Prof. Dato’ Dr. Kamaruzzaman Sopian, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), who serves as the Chief Juror. Their collective expertise ensures a rigorous
evaluation process, focusing on innovation, impact, and scalability.
The virtual format of this year’s event makes it accessible to a global audience, enabling participants to engage in dynamic conversations, forge new partnerships, and explore cutting-edge solutions in sustainable energy and green technology. Visitors will also have the unique opportunity to interact with thought leaders and discover actionable strategies to integrate sustainability into their industries.
