Litterbot Pro, the self-cleaning litter box startup.

Comes from Germany and has already raised more than 25,000 euros, is quiet and does the dirty work for you. Litterbotics’ self-cleaning litter box prepares for market launch.

Everyone (or almost everyone) likes cats but no one (or almost no one) likes to pick up their unscented droppings. The solution for this dirty job comes from Germany, from the minds of the folks at Litterbotics, who design a self-cleaning automated litter box: the Litterbot Pro.

The prototype devised by the German startup, which is currently raising funds on kickstarter, adopts a very slow rotation system aimed at making droppings disappear by dragging them into a special collection space. The rotation of the sand is imperceptible and no cat, during testing, had any complaints, continuing to do their business without perceiving change. The rotation, and thus cleaning, complete takes about 15 minutes.

The droppings are, as the people at Litterbotics explain, collected in a special transparent space with an anti-odor system that helps make any unpleasant odors disappear. Employing proper sand and taking advantage of continuous rotation, the droppings, before being collected in the special space, will be buried and “neutralized.”

The machine makes no noise (we are under 30 decibels) and is easy to disassemble, as we can observe on their kickstarter. The size is generous, able to accommodate even the largest cats. Power consumption, compared to competitors currently on the market, is lower.

The project has received considerable interest on the Kickstarter platform, setting aside more than 25,000 euros against a mid-March deadline. The price Litterbotics envisions is eye-catching compared to current products on the market: $180 compared to $400 to $600 for competitors.

Simple and interesting idea, cats thank.
