Electricity from the sun and the waves-the planting of the future

Launched experimentally by Eni in the offshore of Ravenna, in collaboration with the Politecnico di Torino and the spin-off Wave for Energy, represents the plant model that will facilitate the conversion of existing platforms according to the new Sustainable needs. The pilot plant, integrated with a system of photovoltaic panels and one of energy storage, has currently reached a power Exceeding 51 KW.

Inertial Sea Wave energy Converter (ISWEC), this is the name of the innovative system, able to transform the energy produced by the waves into electricity, which can also adapt to the different maritime weather conditions, for Ensure the continuity of energy production.

The waves represent the world’s largest renewable energy source , with very high energy density, high predictability and low variability: a virtuous energy system with zero emissions.

This ambitious project represents for Eni The example of the growing commitment to integrating resources and professionalism between academia and enterprise, as well as the willingness to focus on renewable and sustainable energies.
