Dimar is one of the few companies in the world able to produce a special inflatable helmet able to protect healthcare personnel from the Coronavirus.
The fight against the Coronavirus has given a boost to medical research but also to technological innovation. Many companies have reorganized their work lines to focus on the design and large-scale production of effective solutions against Covid-19. One of the most stressed areas is of course PPE, the Personal Protective Equipment supplied to nurses, doctors and hospital staff. Italian industry is at the forefront in this sector and there are companies capable of producing unique devices. One of these is certainly Dimar, a biotech company based in Medolla (Modena). This company from Romagna has designed and patented a special virus-proof inflatable helmet. The device is an “evolution” of the filtering masks and is very similar to an astronaut’s helmet. Thanks to its structure, the Dimar helmet performs a dual function: it facilitates breathing and isolates the respiratory tract, minimizing the risk of infection in hospital wards. Worldwide, only three companies are able to produce devices of this kind.

Dimar: tripled the production of the inflatable helmet against Coronavirus
The production of inflatable helmets tripled with the outbreak of the Coronavirus emergency. “The crisis unit in Milan – explains Dimar’s owner Maurizio Borsari – has identified this device as the first line solution to facilitate the patient’s breathing and at the same time isolate him at best. Ours can be used on patients who have not serious respiratory insufficiency in all hospital beds and therefore allows not to overload the resuscitation departments. In this way we can avoid overcrowding intensive care. We have tripled production and are recruiting new staff, but they need to be trained. Many hospitals are organising themselves on time, and orders are still coming in from abroad. Meanwhile, the President of the Tuscany Region, Enrico Rossi, announced the invention of new special masks to limit the spread of Coronavirus.
