With the growing popularity of video content, both on platforms such as TikTok and others, the need for versatile and intuitive tools becomes increasingly important. The Belkin Auto-Tracking Stand Pro was one of my favourites at CES 2024, and no wonder. This stand uses a wireless connection and Apple’s DockKit standard to turn your iPhone into a real camera.
Available for $180, it is perfect for a wide range of users, from vloggers to TikTok content creators, and offers advanced features such as 360-degree rotation and the ability to charge your phone while filming. However, it is not without limitations, so it is important to carefully consider all aspects before making a purchase.
What I liked:
Easy to use: Setting up the Belkin Auto-Tracking Stand Pro is extremely simple. Just turn it on, pair it with your iPhone and select some basic options. Once done, the stand will follow the movements of your face as you move back and forth, up and down.
360 degree rotation:
Its ability to fully rotate allows you to capture dynamic shots without having to move the tripod. This is especially useful when you want to show your entire surroundings.
Compatibility with many apps:
The Belkin Auto-Tracking Stand Pro works with a wide range of apps, including third-party apps such as TikTok, Instagram and Zoom. This makes it extremely versatile and suitable for multiple uses.
What I didn’t like:
Limited speed: During testing, I noticed that the stand could have trouble following your movements if you move too quickly. This could be a problem if you want to use it in dynamic or moving environments.
Limited height:
The relatively low height of the stand could limit its use in some situations. However, you can solve this problem by using an additional tripod.
iPhone-only support:
Unfortunately, the Belkin Auto-Tracking Stand Pro only works with iPhone devices that support Apple’s DockKit technology. This excludes Android users, who may find this limitation disappointing.
Despite some limitations, the Belkin Auto-Tracking Stand Pro is an excellent option for those looking for a smart and easy-to-use stand for their video shoots. Its ease of use and compatibility with a wide range of apps make it ideal for a variety of uses, from creating videos on TikTok to conducting FaceTime video calls. Although the price may seem a little high, its seamless integration with the iPhone and its facial tracking functionality make it a worthwhile investment for content creators.
