Apple intelligence: what it is and what we can expect

On June 10, 2024, during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple unveiled its new artificial intelligence platform, Apple Intelligence, which integrates OpenAI’s ChatGPT into iPhone, iPad, and Mac systems. This integration enhances Siri, making it more intuitive and interactive. Key features include smarter voice assistance, improved dictation, real-time translation, and personalized content generation.

While there will be great improvements on the one hand, however, there are the well-known question marks about the protection of personal data.
The news of this platform has created turmoil in the tech world, even Elon musk has expressed skepticism, voicing concerns about security and competition in the field of artificial intelligence.

Apple Intelligence is expected to debut in beta with iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia this fall, initially supporting U.S. English.
During the conference, it naturally came to the topic of security and privacy for users, and from reports it appears that Apple will use ChatGPT within its private cloud and on devices, ensuring that user data is not shared directly with OpenAI. This choice ensures greater privacy protection as artificial intelligence models will be used in Apple’s data centers.

This is probably a strategy by Apple to become a market leader while waiting to develop its own in-house artificial intelligence solution to then compete with Microsoft, Amazon and Google.
