Wow is the first Italian startup specializing in the creation of electric scooters: the goal is to bridge the gap with gasoline vehicles in the field of two wheels.
The future of urban mobility is electric. The greater environmental awareness of all of us and the (increasingly stringent) regulations introduced by local governments to limit traffic and emissions of fine dust are pushing many drivers to focus on hybrid or electric vehicles. This is especially true for the two-wheeler sector: electric scooters are extremely easy to handle, have a low price and benefit from significant tax breaks or bonuses. The rise of electric scooters has been certified by the presence of numerous companies in the sector at Eicma 2019, the international exhibition of cycle and motorcycle staged in Milan from 5 to 10 November. Just during this event, was presented WoW, an Italian startup that aims to conquer the market of ‘native electric scooters’. The company was born just this year from an intuition of Diego Gajani – founder of many industrial companies with a past in the field of strategic consulting – Bruno Greppi – designer with years of experience in the two-wheeler sector – and Zeno Pellizzari, manager in the field of investment banking and media. The three entrepreneurs have joined forces to achieve a very ambitious goal: to bridge the gap between petrol and electricity in the two-wheeler sector.
Electric scooters from the startup Wow
At Eicma 2019, startup Wow presented its first two models of electric scooters. The Model 4 has a power of 4.0 Kw and can be driven already at 14 years old while the Model 6 has a maximum power of 6.0 Kw and can be driven from 16 years old. Both models have a central engine, not in the rear wheel, and a toothed belt drive for more power and better weight distribution. The range guaranteed by the two lithium-ion batteries is 130 km for the Model 4 and 110 km for the Model 6. The maximum speeds are 45 and 85 km / h respectively and the reverse gear is activated by a switch on the handlebar. A battery charging system during braking, a 70-litre under-seat compartment and 16-inch wheels complete the equipment. The two electric scooters of the Wow will be on the market in the summer of 2020. According to the creators, they are able to compete with the two-wheeled thermal engine not only in terms of performance and comfort, but also in price: the challenge is launched.
