Summer is a season as beautiful as it is hot, sometimes really unbearable with its 40 degrees in the shade. You try to sweat as little as possible, you can find refreshment in shopping malls or offices thanks to the constant use of air conditioning. But it’s always time to get married on foot, by car, by public transport or just go out for shopping. And if, after a hectic day, you decide to take a walk and have a little fun, how do you deal with the heat?
Sony has the solution, called Reon Pocket, a pocket-sized air conditioner that can be controlled from your smartphone.
The invention born from a proprietary crowdfunding platform, SSAP (Sony Startup Acceleration Program) is part of a project led by Yoichi Ito and through fundraising has already reached 69 million yen (about 545 million euros).
Once a useful figure has been reached, production will start, it is assumed that the first shipments of the products could take place in March 2020.
In short, if before we wore the caps with the fan, now we will wear Reon Pocket, which will travel with a T-shirt which will have an internal pocket behind the neck where the mini air conditioner with its 85 grams will be placed.
The sizes available will be the normal S,M,L; the device will be used via smartphone with IOS or Android operating system.
Connecting Reon pocket with bluetooth, you can adjust the temperature of the air conditioner that will go down to at a maximum of 13 degrees, a system of thermoelectric cooling, which follows the Peltier effect.
But for those who are already thinking about winter, know that Sony has thought of everything, in fact Reon Pocket can also be used in the cold months, as it will be able to raise the temperature up to a maximum of 8 degrees.
The duration of the mini air conditioner will have an autonomy of 90 minutes after a full charge of 2 hours through a USB-C connector.
More versions will be available, a cheaper dispute, around 105 euros and a full-featured one at 160 euros.
