WICO 2020: the organizer’s message
“It is very regrettable that the world is in a state of panic due to the craze of COVID-19, the 2020 World Invention Olympics (WICO) in Seoul, and that one cannot meet a friendly face in person. However, the WICO, which has been prepared by the organizing committee since March, is very grateful for the participation of more than 500 people from 14 countries with the help of friends from around the world. We can’t meet, but we believe our hearts are always together. The 2020 WICO is the ninth (after 2011) to run creative talent training and start-up support programs. In particular, I would like to thank my friends in Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, China, Malaysia, Indonesia and Cambodia for sending a large number of participants this year. I would also like to express my deep gratitude to the teams of Canada, Romania, Sudan, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, the United States and New Zealand who have always supported me. Also, I would like to express my deep gratitude to Manli, the chairman of Wippa. Although COVID-19 prevented foreign participants from visiting Korea, we reviewed the videos submitted to us online and are currently holding awards ceremonies at the SETEC Convention Center with excellent domestic guests from all over the country. We couldn’t be together this year, but we look forward to seeing each other again in 2021. Thank you”.
