Water is a priceless commodity, it is contained in our body, it covers 70% of the earth’s surface and yet it is often polluted. But what if we told you that from the United States comes a solution to purify it through the sun?
Well, yes, a new method to make water drinkable would use solar energy.
A team of researchers at the University of Rochester has identified a portable and environmentally friendly system capable of removing organic contaminants and heavy metals.
It is an absorbent and breathable aluminium panel. Through the use of laser pulses, the panel is engraved creating open grooves, thus it becomes and acquires hydrophilic properties.
The system
The panel has been partially immersed in water, with the dark side facing the sun to absorb the heat. The water is then absorbed by the panel, rises vertically and heats up, evaporates. All contaminants present are eliminated and the steam is then collected and condensed.
The angle of the panel can be adjusted to suit the different positions of the sun and its rays. In addition I sell a surface with open grooves, the super absorbent aluminum panel is very easy to clean from metals designed.
